The claim
The mayor is shopping for new rodeo grounds
“And Jared has been out asking everyone he can for new RODEO GROUNDS, I heard.”
Seen: Eagle Mountain City Tax Referendum Facebook group, August 2026.
A real question the record cannot yet answer.
A new rodeo grounds is a real, funded, adopted city project, and a mayor pursuing one would be doing his job. Whether Jared Gray has personally been asking anyone for a site is a different question, and the record does not answer it.
The numbers
What’s true
The thing he is said to be shopping for exists. On April 15, 2025 the council adopted a resolution expressing intent to work with the West Traverse Sentinel Landscape committee on relocating the rodeo grounds into the Army Compatible Use Buffer around Camp Williams; the FY2026–27 capital schedule carries $1,000,000 for it; and staff still listed “rodeo grounds planning” among the year's open projects on August 4, 2026. Finding a site means talking to people who own land, so the behavior described is plausible, and, for an adopted project, unremarkable.
What isn't settled
None of that is evidence that he has. The claim is about one named person doing a specific thing, and everything above it is about a council decision and a budget line, a different subject. Nothing in the agendas, minutes or recordings shows Jared Gray approaching anyone about a site, and nothing in them rules it out: private calls do not appear in the record this page checks against. His one recorded act on the item is an abstention, while Wright, Burnham, Clark and Wood voted yes, and that is not the rebuttal it looks like, since standing aside is the ordinary response to a declared interest rather than proof there is none. The sourcing offered is “I heard.”
More detail
What would settle it: a site named in an agenda, a property owner on the record, correspondence released under GRAMA, or the mayor answering the question in an open meeting. None of those exists yet.

- Unsupported by the recordA councilman said the city has no money
- Not settledA free repair of the eagle monument was ignored
- MisleadingThe tax is really about the rodeo grounds
